İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is the gateway to the Aegean region. Besides the city centre, popular holiday destinations such as Çeşme, Kuşadası, Alaçatı and Bodrum are all reached from here. The airport sits just 18 km from downtown — one of the most centrally located airports in Turkey.
Transport Options
Private Transfer
A private transfer takes 20–30 minutes to Alsancak, 60–80 minutes to Çeşme and 50–70 minutes to Kuşadası. It is the most comfortable option, especially for holiday groups and families. The fare is fixed at booking and there is no luggage hassle.
İZBAN (Commuter Rail)
The Adnan Menderes Airport İZBAN station is within walking distance of the terminal building. It takes roughly 25 minutes to Alsancak and 35–40 minutes to Konak with a transfer. An affordable, traffic-independent alternative when you use an İzmirim Kart.
İZBAN advantage
İZBAN is integrated with İzmir's metro and tram lines. A single card gives you access to the entire city transit network.
HAVAŞ Bus
HAVAŞ runs scheduled services from the airport to the city centre. Not quite as fast as İZBAN, but practical for passengers with a lot of luggage. Departures are aligned with flight schedules.
Taxi
Fares run around 200–350 TL to the city centre and 800–1,200 TL to Çeşme. Taking a taxi to distant resort towns can be costly — in that case a private transfer is far more economical.

Seasonal Demand
During summer, transfer demand toward Çeşme and Alaçatı skyrockets. Booking early between June and September secures both vehicle availability and a price advantage. In winter, business travel dominates, so city-centre transfers come to the fore.
Practical Tips
- İZBAN is the fastest and most affordable way to the city centre — but ideal only if your luggage is light
- For Çeşme and Kuşadası, a private transfer is considerably more comfortable
- In peak season, advance booking is a must — finding a last-minute vehicle gets difficult
- İzmirim Kart can be purchased at the airport İZBAN station
